Words for an online care conversation

Care questions

Bring questions that leave room for an answer.

Write the question you most want answered before opening a care form. Keep the reply beside it.

Carry the questions through the visit

Ask about the care decision

Put your reason for seeking care at the top of the page. Use these prompts to keep the discussion on that reason.

  • What are we trying to treat?
  • What choices fit my health and preferences?
  • What information is missing before a decision?
  • What would make an in-person visit useful?

Ask about the medicine and the bill

Get the names and the charges into the same set of notes.

  • What is the exact medicine and form?
  • Who will prescribe it, and which pharmacy will send it?
  • Which charges repeat, and which are separate?
  • What happens to the price after an opening offer?
  • What happens if my plan refuses payment?

Ask how the conversation continues

Leave space beside each question for a reply. Carry anything still unanswered into the next conversation.

  • How do I raise a new concern?
  • Who replies when the clinician is away?
  • How will we discuss progress?
  • How would stopping or changing care be handled?

Return to the word that needs work

When the reply contains an unfamiliar word, ask the person to define it before ending the conversation.

A sunlit gravel path curves past pale flowering plants and a coral garden wall.
Leave room to think after the conversation.
